- Bella overcoming her fear of movie theaters and going to see Annie.
- NYE party at Andy and Rosie's.
- Second snow day of the school year on 1/6
Wed - 12/31 - I took Bella to see the Annie at our local movie theater. Melissa and Nate joined us. Bella has developed a fear of theaters in the last few years so this was our first attempt to see a movie in quite some time. She was scared and tried to get me to leave a few times, but I knew if she made it past the previews (which are full of loud moments and surprises) that she would be fine. And she was. She did great and was proud of herself for staying.
Then we went to my brother's for a NYE party. He, his wife and daughter were there as well as my dad. Ross and Lilly left around 10, because that was plenty late for her. My step-mom showed up around 11:30 or so after she got off work. Bella and I stayed for midnight and watching the ball drop on TV and then we left because she was ready to go to sleep.
Thur - 1/1 - Unfortunately woke up at 6:30 to Ross's alarm. The kids were up early-ish too, so I'm glad I didn't stay out any later than I did last night. We basically hung out and played all day and then took a quick nap and headed to Dad's house for a NYD celebration. It was fun to be together again and less stressful because there were no presents to mess with.
Fri - 1/2 - Brynna came over to play with Bella. Lilly got to play too, but mostly they wanted to just hang out together since they are older. They played well while we hung out with Lilly. Today was the last day of Ross's Christmas vacation, other than the weekend. Bella's too. Mom and I went out in the evening to do a bit of shopping. Some stuff I needed and then her monthly grocery shopping. It was nice to be out without the kids, though I missed them as usual.
Sat - 1/3 - We spent the morning doing the normal tidying up, and then Skyping with Ross's Mum. Then around 2:30 my friends Stephanie and Jason came over with their girls, Sofia and Olivia. We hung out and had Chinese for dinner. Stephanie and I escaped to Jasmine (a gift shop) and Starbucks for a little while after dinner and then they went home.
Sun - 1/4 - Nothing out of the ordinary today. Bella and I went to church this morning while Ross and Lilly stayed home. I took down the reindeer decorations, nativity scenes and half of the outside lights today. Slowly but surely returning our house to it's pre-Christmas look. Getting ready for school and our normal schedules to start up again.
Mon - 1/5 - First day back to school for Bella and to work for Ross. Lilly and I played games and hung out and I got the normal cleaning/cooking/washing stuff done. I took down the rest of the outside lights. In the evening Bella and Ross played a board game after dinner and Lilly watched so I got to watch some shows, which was a nice break.
Tues - 1/6 - SNOW DAY! Second snow day of this school year for Bella. It wasn't much more than a dusting, but apparently it was enough to cancel school. So the girls and I took down the ornaments on the tree and then went out to play in the snow. The girls built a little castle while I shoveled the driveway. In the evening Ross and I took down the tree. All of our decorations are packed away for next Christmas. Sad, but freeing at the same time.
Wed - 1/7 - Bella was back to school today. Lilly and I went to church to prep for the class I help lead tonight and then came home to finish laundry and cleaning. In the evening Bella and I were off to church and then came home to rest and relax.
