My goal for this year is to write a weekly summary of what's been going on in our family's life. Partly as a record for my family, and partly as an exercise in writing for myself.
Because of the way the weeks fall, I am going to write every Wednesday.
This week has been very busy!
Wed, Jan 1 - The weather was beautiful (in the 40's) and so I put the kids in their jackets and went outside. We (mostly I) took down the outside Christmas decorations and then the kids played in the yard and on all their outside toys. Bikes, scooters and skates mostly. Then around 1:00 we joined my Dad, Stepmom and siblings at Dad's house and had lunch together. We also celebrated my Brother-in-Law-to-be's birthday with cake and ice cream. And then we ended up sticking around so long that we ordered pizza for dinner. It was all good fun.
Thursday we woke up to a winter wonderland outside. It was beautiful and I've always loved the snow. But we had planned to meet friends out at Jump 'N' Jacks to give the kids a place to play. Ross was back to work, so it was just me and them and I knew they needed to get out of the house. So I was able to run the snow blower and clear the driveway and we braved the winter weather. It was great. My friend Stephanie met us there with her two girls (Sofia, 6, and Olivia, 8 months) and the kids played together for hours. Such a nice way for Steph and I to catch up.
Thursday night Bella got sick so I had to keep her home on Friday. But I took Lilly to daycare so I could do last minute errands for my sister's wedding. Bella and I ran around a bit and then I got her home so she could rest and I could take a nap. I LOVE naps.
That evening we all went to the rehearsal and the dinner at LaRosa's. It was delicious and fast and then we were able to get the kids in bed at a decent hour. Then all the bridesmaids and maid of honor and Sarah stayed together at my sister Melissa's house. It was so much fun! The sisters (Sarah, Emily, Melissa and I) have always stayed together before our weddings and this was our last time. We watched Adventures in Babysitting - a blast from our past - and had lots of snacks. Then we stayed up until 3am talking about everything and nothing at the same time. Probably not our best idea, but it was fun. And then we found places to sleep and woke back up at 8 am to get the party started.
