March 5 - 11

Notable things of the week:
  • Lilly and I visited two preschools and picked the FCDC.
  • Ross and Bella went to Family Game/Literacy night at South.
  • I spent the night at Kasia's for VBS planning.
  • I attended the Lead Small Conference with 13 people from church.
  • Bella wrote her "famous American" report on Sally Ride.
  • Lilly and I visited Melissa, Nate and Eli in the morning on Thursday.

Thurs - Mar 5 - Lilly and I went to see two preschools today. First was the Fairfield Child Development Center. They had classes going on so we could see it first hand. I really liked the layout of the rooms and the different activities they could do. And I liked that they have individualized plans for the kids. Lilly would still be in a class with 3, 4 and 5 year olds. But she would have her own plan and goals to work on. Lilly also loved the "muscle room" where there are climbing toys and bikes to ride around. The second place we went was the Fairfield YMCA and it didn't stand much of a chance, I'll admit. But really the facility is just not as nice as the FCDC and the only 3 day a week class they have is in the morning, which is not my preference.

In the evening Ross and Bella went to the Family Literacy/Game Night at school. They had a good time and Bella came home with a chocolate scented calculator. Not book related, but it's apparently what she wanted to buy.

Fri - Mar 6 - Today Lilly and I hung out and got stuff done around the house. Then we went and signed up at the FCDC. I'm so excited to have that done now. In the evening after Ross got home I left to go to meet up with fourwomen from church, and my mom, to go to dinner. We went to El Rancho Grande. It was delicious, but too filling! Then we went back to Kasia's house and worked on plans for VBS this summer. And we also spent time just chatting with each other and getting to know each other. It was fun. All but Mom spent the night at Kasia's because we had an early morning conference to go to together.

Sat - Mar 7 - After having gone to bed at 1:30am, we got up early to have breakfast together and head off to the conference. It was put on by Orange, and the theme was "Lead Small". It was all about small groups and how to be effective and encourage each other. Pretty good. About 13 people from church overall went. Afterwards I went to Reruns for WeeOnes and scored two t-shirts for the girls and a dress for Easter for Bella for $4.37. I had a $10 off coupon, but it was still a great deal! And then I headed home to play with the kids. Since the temps were up in the high 40's the girls put on jackets and snow boots and went and stomped around in the melting snow. It was fun to be outside. Bella even rode her bike for a while. And in the evening the girls got baths and I cleaned up around the house and even prepared the grocery list for tomorrow! It was a very busy day.

Sun - Mar 8 - Today was the time change for Daylight Savings time. So the kids were a bit difficult to wake up. But they finally did and we went to church. Afterwards it was McDonalds as usual and then hanging around the house. Bella got all her homework done and got to play with Julia. Ross let them go off to the park by themselves and they were very good about being responsible.

Mon - Mar 9 - Last night I pre-made my to-do list so that I could get right on things today. There's always so much to do, but I'm glad to be useful around here. Lilly and I played together, she's really into pretending right now so we played tea party and with her babies, and so forth. Lots of fun. In the evening Bella finished up a report on Sally Ride that she'll present to her class on Friday.

Tues - Mar 10 - Lilly and I left after Bella got on the bus and we went to Melissa's house to visit with her and Nate and Eli. Mom came by too. It was nice to hang out and for Lilly to have some play time with Nate. Then after we all ate our lunches we left since Nate had to go to school. Lilly and I did some stuff around the house in the afternoon and then in the evening it was more work on the Sally Ride project for Bella. She is making a poster board with pictures and information about Sally.

Wed - Mar 11 - Today was a typical day. We did a bunch of stuff around the house in the morning, and then in the afternoon we were at church setting up for Gospel Project. Lilly played with my friend Kristi's kids (Olivia and Madylin) while I was working there. And then in the evening Bella and I ate at church and then had Gospel Project while Lilly and Ross had time at home.
